Windows Applications Portfolio

Here are a selection of applications I have created using C#.NET & various SDKs (software development kits). All applications are freeware but if you would like the source code please donate £5 GBP and they will be made avaialbe to you. If you have any ideas for projects I could undertake, please contact me.

These applications take time to develop and test, so if you like an application, please considering donating a small amount of money to ensure I keep developing my applications and that they remain freeware.

Project: PS3 Remote Application - v1.0 BETA

This application allows the user to use their Official Sony PS3 BluRay bluetooth remote within Windows. It utilises the fact that the device is registered as an HID device when connected, via Bluetooth, to the computer. This software 'listens' for the HID it recieves from the remote and takes appropriate action.

Within the application is a configuration section to allow users to control what each button on the remote does. For users with a Bluetooth reciever that works with the default Microsoft Bluetooth stack, there is an additional wizard for pairing the remote. Included is a configuration file which was put together for use in Vista Media Center.

This application has been tested and works on Windows XP 32bit, Windows XP 64bit, Vista 32bit & Vista 64bit.

Project length: 1 week.
Skills required: C#.NET.
Setup instructions: simply download and install the application. The application will appear in the system tray when run.
Download: click here to download the installer.

Project: News Alerter Plugin - v1.0 ALPHA

Put simply, this plugin displays items from RSS feeds. It checks the feed periodically, and will display the first item (most recent) in the list providing it hasn't displayed it before. So good for news sites, hence "News Alerter".

This plugin is compatible with Windows Vista Media Center 32bit & 64bit and should work regardless of whether you have the TV pack installed or not

This is a very early release so you have to manually edit the files to configure the plugin. The files are stored in %Program Files%\Ben Barron\News Alerter Plugin\.

Project length: 1 week.
Skills required: C#.NET & Vista Media Center SDK.
Setup instructions: simply download and install the application. The application will automatically run when you run Media Center.
Download: click here to download the installer.
